A Dental Home From Age One

Gentle, preventive dental care that grows with your child—from the first birthday through adolescence.

A child's first dental visit should take place by age one, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Starting early allows us to monitor dental development, help prevent cavities, guide parents through home care, and create positive experiences before urgent treatment is ever needed. At Beautiful Smiles of Plantation, we provide calm, family-centered dental care for infants, toddlers, children, and teenagers.

About this care

What this treatment involves.

A child's first dental visit ideally happens by age one, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short, gentle, and mostly about introducing kids to the sights and sounds of the office in a positive way. As children grow, visits gradually add cleanings, fluoride treatments, and simple exams.

Preventive care makes up most of pediatric dentistry. Regular cleanings remove plaque before it becomes a problem. Sealants — thin protective coatings on the chewing surfaces of back teeth — dramatically reduce the risk of cavities during the years kids are still learning to brush well. Topical fluoride strengthens developing enamel.

When cavities do develop, tooth-colored fillings are placed as comfortably as possible, at the child's pace, with clear explanations along the way. We also monitor how the jaws and bite are developing, so we can flag airway, spacing, or bite concerns early — when they are simplest to address.

FAQ

Common questions.

Have a question we haven't answered? Call us at (954) 739-6464.

When should my child first visit the dentist?+

By age one, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits build comfort and catch small issues early.

Do you accept my child's insurance?+

We accept most PPO and HMO plans and file claims on your behalf. Our team will verify your specific benefits.

How do you handle anxious kids?+

Slowly, gently, and always at the child's pace. We take the time to explain each step in words that make sense to them.

Are sealants really necessary?+

For most kids, yes. Sealants on the chewing surfaces of back teeth substantially reduce cavities during the cavity-prone school years.

What if my child needs a cavity filled?+

We use gentle numbing, tooth-colored materials, and take the time your child needs to feel comfortable throughout the visit.
